Applications Sulphonated Oil SS Sulfonated oils are anionic surfactants, which is why they have properties like wetting, emulsifying and dispersing. Sulfonated oils SS are a new type sulfonated fatliquoring materials prepared from natural vegetable oil by sulfur trioxide membrane sulfonation. It can either be fatliquored on its own or combined with other fatliquors. It gives the leather a soft feel and is compatible with many other fatliquors. Sulfonated SS oil has a high permeability. After fat is added, leather becomes soft, plump and oily. It will not migrate through the leather fibers and will not produce an oily cream or oil spots. It has good stability and emulsification, and it can improve the fatliquoring of fatliquors which have poor stability or emulsification. Its compatibility with other fatliquoring material has made it a popular new material used in leather chemical factories to produce medium and high grade fatliquors. Sulfonated Oil is used widely in the textile, leather, paper and metal processing industries. It is also used for agricultural preparations as an emulsifier.
